Shtang – Shafdan Project
The Shafdan is the largest regional wastewater treatment plant in Israel. The plant treats and disposes of wastewater from an extensive, densely populated area that includes industrial zones, workshops and businesses. The population served by the Shafdan plant is estimated at approximately 1.6 million or an equivalent of 2 million persons when including industrial sources (about 7,000 industries). The plant treats about 400,000 m³ of wastewater (an average daily flow rate of about 15,000 m³/h).
